little over seven years ago in the Western Upper Peninsula (UP), Aspirus had one hospital
location in Ontonagon. Today, there are four Aspirus hospital organizations, including our
newest partner, NORTH
STAR
Health System in Iron River.
Bringing you better care
Aspirus is growing by bringing a higher level of health care to the UP and northern
Wisconsin. In every Aspirus location, great doctors, nurses and support staff are delivering
excellent, compassionate care to people every day of the year. Aspirus supports this by
investing in facilities that make health care access better and more comfortable for people.
Here are some recent milestones:

In Houghton, we opened a brand-new multiservice family medicine and outpatient
therapies clinic in June.

In Ironwood, our major renovation to the emergency, laboratory service and pharmacy
will be complete in fall of 2014.

In Ontonagon, we just completed facility enhancements to the skilled nursing unit and are
renovating the family medicine clinic.

Last year in Antigo, Wisconsin, we opened a brand-new community hospital.

In Medford, Wisconsin, we are nearly finished with a major hospital addition.

And in the last two years in Wausau, Wisconsin, we have built a new state-of-the-art surgical
center along with advancement upgrades in cancer care and heart and vascular care.
Individually, each of these projects ensures excellent health care closer to home. Altogether,
they demonstrate an Aspirus commitment that is meaningful to people across our entire region.

NORTH
STAR
Health System in Iron River, Michigan, joined Aspirus in July of
2014. NORTH
STAR
has a 25-bed critical access hospital, approximately
300 employees, including 80 physicians and mid-level providers, and
six outpatient community clinics.
