PEOPLE
who think they need immediate medical
care often go to a hospital emergency department. But
that isn’t always the best choice. Medical problems can
sometimes be taken care of more quickly—and at a
lower cost—in another setting.
Unless your illness or injury is severe, consider going
to your primary care doctor.
Primary care doctors are trained to deal with
all conditions in people of all ages. And they have
another advantage. Because your primary care doctor
is familiar with your medical history, he or she can
focus on your immediate needs and design a plan for
follow-up care when necessary. If needed, your doctor
can refer you to an appropriate specialist.
If you don’t have a primary care doctor, now is the
time to find one with whom you feel comfortable—
before you need immediate care. For a free referral, call
800.847.4707
